BANKING
Bank of America
As an art director for an agency specializing in bank marketing, I worked as lead graphic designer for POS campaigns (such as the ‘Try Freedom Checking’ campaign featured here). On top of conceptualizing and designing, I was part of the massive production choreography with clients, vendors, and internal production teams. For these campaigns, over 150 unique printed elements and multi-media components were created and custom kitted for each location, every 6 weeks. I also worked on a number of cool specialty projects such as environmental graphics for the Winter Olympics, direct mail pieces for newly-opening financial centers and ATM machine attract animations.
Bremer Bank
Bremer Bank is an upper Midwest bank that has, for better or worse, become known as a bank that caters mainly to business clientele. Crucial savings deposits, especially existing customer’s Individual Retirement Account savings, had slowed to a trickle. The bank found that their ‘Old School’, advertising and marketing were not generating the interest and results they were hoping to achieve.
I was engaged to help create a series of IRA-specific direct mail pieces targeting specific populations of savers, and non-savers. Concepts presented to the bank included the examples shown here, a little edgy and irreverent with a straight payoff.
Charter One Bank
Charter One Bank was highly focused on bringing customers to their bank by offering incentives: the ubiquitous toaster giveaway of the ‘golden age’ of deposit banking taken a huge step farther. Working as a designer with John Ryan, a marketing agency specializing in banks, I was an integral team member in the creation and execution of ‘MegaRewards’, a first-of-its-kind loyalty program whereby points are earned on check card usage. The program was a complete success, Charter became the leading deposit bank in its markets and their MegaRewards program boasted over 600,000 members in its heyday.
